Alana LaPoint

Coding, for me, combines the best of both worlds - allowing a person to engage the left and right brain in tandem to be both creative and analytical.

During the last year, I’ve spent countless hours honing my skills in JavaScript, React / Redux, Python, Flask, SQL, and full stack development. A project I am particularly proud of is a solo full stack project, New Growth, with a Flask back end and React / Redux front end, designed entirely from scratch. The process of building an app from the ground up, deciding exactly what the application does and what it looks like, and watching the pieces come together is thrilling for me.

In my time at App Academy, I discovered my appreciation for pair programming and deepened my love for working with people of diverse backgrounds. During this time I also confirmed that I am most fulfilled when learning constantly and collaborating with others.

A creative coder at my core with +15 years’ experience in the art field, I’m eager to launch a career in software engineering by leveraging my love for abstract problem solving, technical skills and keen eye for detail to provide meaningful and easy-to-use app experiences for users.
